A Word About Shipping Whipped Shea Butter in HOT Weather

For over 20 years Sunrise Showers Soap Co. has been dedicated to making 100% natural products that are great for your skin. Our fluffy “That Amazing Stuff”™ Whipped Organic Shea Butter Moisturizers are made with Organic Shea Butter with no synthetic stabilizers added.

As a result, our Whipped Organic Shea Butter is susceptible to changes in consistency depending on the outside temperature. In cold weather it may become firmer. And in hot weather, much to our dismay, it may get very soft, or even melt, during shipping. It’s unfortunate, but melting is a natural reaction to heat and we have no control over the conditions during transit once your order leaves our dock. Remember, the jars may be sitting in hot trucks and warehouses, totally beyond our control, as they go on their journey to your doorstep.

Similar commercially-made products are formulated to maintain the same consistency over many years and under many different temperature variations. Many commercial products contain phthalates to stabilize and maintain the viscosity or thickness. Cocamide DEA and MEA may be added to thicken, stabilize and emulsify water-based products. Petroleum-based oils and waxes may also be added to thicken and stabilize products. These synthetic additives, as well as others, help maintain the same consistency through extreme variations in temperature.

Our natural Whipped Organic Shea Butter products do not contain these or any other synthetic additives to maintain their fluffy consistency. During hot weather conditions, we do our best to plan shipping so that our products get to you as fast as possible, trying to avoid shipping delays caused by weekends and holidays.

The quality and benefits of our Whipped Organic Shea Butter products are not affected by a change in consistency caused by heat or cold. If they do soften up in hot conditions, over a few hours they will firm up again at room temperature, but may lose some of the fluffiness and be more like a body balm.

When they are originally whipped, small air bubbles are incorporated into the product, adding volume and making it light and fluffy. If it melts, the air bubbles collapse and the volume decreases, but there is no change in the total weight. (Note, they are filled and sold by WEIGHT, not volume.) The jar may look not as full, or take on a little different appearance, but you can still use it normally and get all the same beneficial results.

Unfortunately, this is the tradeoff when using an all-natural product. This explanation is NOT meant to discourage you from purchasing our Whipped Organic Shea Butters. We continue to ship them year-round to customers all around the country with no major issues, but we felt it our obligation to let you, the customer, know what could happen on rare occasions. We appreciate your understanding.
